Why did they not choose the aeroscreen. I don’t understand. The flip flop is so ugly.

As I understand more testing & research had been done on the Halo vs the Aeroscreen, and FIA wanted head protection ASAP, so they implemented the Halo.

It’s just frustrating when Indycars have these beautiful windscreens. https://www.autoblog.com/2018/02/12/indycar-windshield-tested/#slide-7240667 Which is for the same purpose.

The halo is really only going to stop big stuff too. It seems like a Massa incident could still occur. Are they even strong enough to withstand something like what happened to Jules Bianchi? Not implying that the aeroscreen would either, just wondering. The virtual safety car seems to have eliminated that risk as well.

So is this the Blue Edition?

‘Cause it’s the best flavor of Red Bull after the Green Edition.

Its pretty agreed upon that the halo wouldn’t have prevented most head injuries in recent memory, and that it mainly protects from wheel impacts to the head, but they have wheel tethers now...

It is for sure disappointing how all this has been handled, but I don’t think the Halo will be a permanent feature, just a stop gap measure so the FIA and Liberty Media can say “Hey look, we’re doing something ”. I’m sure a windscreen or other better options will remain in development and be implemented later.

At least so far the constructors have done a great job at handling its integration into the car. I can see the halo but my eye isn’t drawn to it.

I still can’t believe they went through all the trouble of making this livery and matching suits, only to not actually use them for the season.
